Founder & Chief Transformation Officer
Alex Cary, MA is a certified Executive Coach and the Founder & Chief Transformation Officer of The Map & The Territory, an executive coaching and leadership consulting firm based in Los Angeles, California. She brings 25+ years of professional experience, having engaged in thousands of conversations with individuals and organizations from around the world on leadership building, visioning and planning, ownership mindset, critical conversation, accountability and trust. Her work spans industry, expertise and culture—creating lasting impact and tangible results for effective leadership, personal fulfillment and meaningful contribution.
As Chief Transformation Officer, Alex focuses on leadership development program facilitation and high-level executive coaching for heads of site/facility and C-suite executives.
Prior to executive coaching, Alex began her professional life as a Senior Account liaison for several multinational advertising agencies whose clientele included Mazda Motor Cars of America, Asiana Airlines, DirecTV and Mattel’s Barbie Brand. In 1999, she launched her first entrepreneurial endeavor as a high-end residential designer—growing her company’s presence from San Francisco to Hollywood, Switzerland and Hong Kong.
Alex founded her executive coaching practice in 2013, building on her extensive work within the automotive, technology and consumer goods industries as an account executive, as well as her international experience as an entrepreneur. As her business grew, Alex formally incorporated The Map & The Territory LLC in 2018. She stewarded TMTT’s expansion into comprehensive organizational and team leadership growth / development programming. Alex assembled a working team of (now) four additional practitioner coaches to more effectively deliver TMTT’s expanded service offerings to its growing global client roster. In 2024, TMTT added a Director of Operations to oversee business development strategy and day-to-day operations.
Alex recently relocated to Malta — spurred on by her lifelong dream of once again living abroad. When she’s not serving her clients (regardless of time zone) she’s exploring the Mediterranean and beyond with her husband and their inquisitive 13-year-old son.

Janet Steinhauser is a professional life coach, speaker, educator, and poet. She is a strength-based, mindfulness coach who supports clients in making inner perspective shifts that can lead to greater expansion, peace of mind, and achievement of personal and professional goals. For 30 years Janet led young adult and graduate students on journeys of self-discovery, transformation, service, and learning as a classroom teacher and professor of education. She partnered with educational leaders in the nation's most diverse schools introducing restorative practices, coaching, and social and emotional learning skills to both faculty and students This naturally led to opening her own professional coaching practice where she has expanded her professional body of work to include supporting up-and-coming leaders, entrepreneurs, and executives.

Tammi Scott is a certified executive coach and facilitator who has integrated her 25+ years of sales, consulting and leadership experience into her coaching work with executives, managers, teams, and individuals across the US. She brings understanding and insight from a span of industry experience, including high-end retail, pharmaceutical, education, non-profit, and financial.
She is known for the gentle, persistent way in which she works with her clients, focusing on self-leadership, strategic planning, emotional intelligence, professional sustainability and personal fulfillment. Tammi is a PCC accredited coach with ICF, has coach certifications from the Coaches Training Institute and University of Santa Monica, and holds a masters degree in the field of psychology. She currently lives in Boulder, Colorado.

Vincent Chang
Director of Operations
Vincent J Chang brings 30+ years of international strategic business development, operational management and consultancy experience—including corporate transactional and intellectual property law—in entrepreneurial and established business ventures, family office and charitable foundations. He also maintains a visual and soundscape fine art practice. Vincent has a JD from Cornell Law School and a BA-Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. He enjoys brisk walks, especially discovering and exploring new places, cultures and cuisines. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife and son.
