Leadership Awareness #1: Where am I in my leadership?

Leadership Awareness #3: What's Getting In The Way?
There's nothing more frustrating than feeling weighed down by issues, of our own making, as well as the challenges that seem to lay outside of our dominion.

Leadership Awareness #5: Leadership Beyond Title
Waking up to the ways in which we mistake "the map" i.e. our title, with "the territory" i.e. our ability and capacity to LEAD is one of the most leverage-able places to gain leadership awareness.
To the degree that we have clear sight here, is the degree to which we can grow ourselves as leaders—and is the degree to which we are able to coach and grow others.
Leading beyond title is a GAME CHANGER.

Leadership Awareness #7: Are you in victimhood or Ownership?
We've all been there ... feeling victimized by circumstances, people, situations—and feeling at a loss as to what to do next.
What if we MADE PEACE with this very human experience of feeling victimized at times, and what if we learned to ask the empowered questions that help us get out of it?

Leadership Awareness #11: Complaint or Empowered Request?
We all do it. Complain that is. AND this is where we get to harness the usefulness of complaints by paying close attention. Once we take full ownership of our complaint, we have the power to choose boldly by making a clear, directed request. This skill goes well with creating "agreements" (Leadership Awareness #12).

Leadership Awareness #12: Expectation or Agreement?
Have you ever found yourself asking, "why didn't they bring this to the meeting?" or "Ugh, I thought they were going to ... (fill in the blank)!" There's nothing more irritating than when we HARBOR EXPECTATIONS of others, vs creating LIBERATING AGREEMENTS with them.
An agreement is a co-authored, "everything-on-the-table" conversation in which you and the person you're speaking with "AGREE" to how you will conduct business and life together.
This distinction came to me from the amazing Steve Chandler, learn more here: https://www.stevechandler.com/index.html

Leadership Awareness #15: Pain or Vision? It doesn't matter ... just keep going.
A lot of us let pain be the reason we stop. We hit resistance, and its inherent discomfort, and we stop doing what we're doing—we stop taking action, we stop dreaming, we disengage and let ourselves and our goals grind to a halt. Let's not let pain be the reason we stop. What if pain was actually part of the good news? What if it meant you are onto something? As in, you're venturing into new territory and while it can be scary, it can also be exciting?!
"The pain pushes, until the Vision pulls." —Dr. Rev. Michael Beckwith
Pain is not bad news, it's part of life. Keep growing, keep moving forward. And most of all keep up the inspiring work!

Leadership Practice #8: Got Confidence?
Lack of confidence is caused by insecure thinking. First and foremost we don't need to take our thinking personally. Thinking occurs—much like the heart beats and the stomach digests, our mind thinks. What we want to get savvy to is when our thoughts are of a judgmental nature. When we judge, we drop anchor on someone else or ourselves, like a judge drops the gavel. Once the judgment has been set, it's a done deal.
Judgement against ourselves causes grave insecurities. AND let's face it, if we judge ourselves for something we're ONLY going to be able to judge another for that very same thing.
This is how we get stuck. Leaders exercise choice, and letting go of judgement, moving on, is a choice.

Leadership Practice #9: Got Results?
In order to create results from our coaching experience, it's a requirement that we "try things on" and check out new ways of doing (thinking, feeling) first—before we decide if this "new way" is of value. Being coachable asks us to exercise courage and willingness to try something new, and gather data -- this is the only way to "know" whether you've landed on a useful tool for you.
Are you game?

Leadership Practice #13: Got Courage?
Leadership can be scary, especially when we're "sticking our necks out" to be authentic or try something new. When we can bring an increased level of willingness (even 1% is a game changer) to our leadership—HUGE results can follow. Here's how courage works.

Goals are great. And S.M.A.R.T. goals can be even more effective in getting you where you want to go. And then there are "SMARTER" goals—where inspiration and meaning act as rocket fuel getting you where you want to go.

Leadership Practice #27: Got Permission?
There's nothing more galvanizing than when we decide "the buck stops here".
In leadership, answering the question, "who grants permission?" unearths all the ways in which we may be avoiding full ownership and responsibility for our lives and work. Here I offer 2 very powerful questions to assist you in finding solid ground from which to take that next crucial step in your leadership.
